Most of the scenes on the battlements of Elsinore Castle were filmed on a large set built near the village of Muchalls between Aberdeen and Stonehaven. This includes some of the night scenes of Hamlet seeing the ghost of his father, the rest of these scenes were filmed at Shepperton Studios in England.
