Rannoch Moor

Shortly after passing through the gates of Hadrians Wall, Esca and Marcus are seen travelling along a track running through a wet bleak wilderness i.e. the Highlands of Scotland on a good day. For this purpose this scene was filmed at Rannoch Moor which has around 100 inches of rainfall a year and is mostly a vast peat bog covered with streams and numerous small lochs.

The mountain in the distance on the left is Stob a' Choire Odhair, 945m (3100ft) high. The track points to it's higher neighbour of Stob Gabhar 1090m (3576ft) high almost hidden in the clouds. On the right of the picture are the initial slopes of the highest mountain of this group Meall a’ Bhuiridh 1108m (3635ft) high.

Rannoch Moor

Filmed near the track which leads west across Rannoch Moor from the A82 and joins with the West Highland Way. Parking available on both sides of the road. From the car park head approx 80m north along the road towards Glen Coe and a path will be seen starting on the left just before you reach the small loch. Filming location was a couple of hundred meters along this path towards the distant mountains.
