The village of Laxdale seen in the movie Laxdale Hall was an amalgam of the adjacent villages of Applecross and Milton situated in the Applecross Peninsula. Applecross House a mile north of Applecross was used for the filming location of General Matheson's house, the Laxdale Hall of the film's title.
