The cave and beach scenes were filmed near St Ninian's Cave in Dumfries and Galloway. From the B7004 follow the signs to the cave. There is a car park around a mile away from where a path leads to the beach. Try and visit in late spring as the path goes through some attractive bluebell woods rich with the smell of wild garlic. Once the path reaches the very stony beach turn right and the cave is a few hundred yards away.

CrossesSt Ninian's Cave is a protected monument under the care of Scottish Heritage because of it's reputed connection with St Ninian who brought Christianity to Scotland in the mid 5th century. The cave contains seven crosses scratched on the stone possibly in the sixth and seventh century A.D. It is still a place of pilgrimage and there are usually many crosses that visitors have placed on the floor and sides of the cave. The cave itself is not very deep and the interior cave scenes in the movie were filmed elsewhere in a cave near Stranraer.
